Well with daylight savings time has come slightly warmer temperatures, and with spring only a week away, one can’t help but wonder if the farmer is keeping busy. Despite being slightly under the weather this weekend, yes he indeed has been busy. The plantings have begun! Onions, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and peas have all found themselves planted amid the cool soil, awaiting the warmer temperatures to help them grow and flourish. And yes, in case you were wondering, the first sweet corn of the season is in the ground under it’s warm protection of plastic. It was a very exciting weekend for all at the Farmer’s Daughter as we look forward to bringing the freshest vegetables to your dinner table.

Pansies and primroses have arrived and many couldn’t wait to get their first pick at the happy little faces to brighten their flower beds. Flats were flying this weekend and I’m sure many more to come in the next few weeks. Easter and spring flowers will not be far behind. The smell of hyacinths and tulips are a sure sign that spring is finally here.

Beautiful strawberries and blueberries are here! Not to mention green beans that look like they’re fresh from the garden. Beautiful produce is available now…stop in to get some for your dinner this week. We are seeing more and more familiar faces, but have we seen you?
