Greetings…some crazy weather Sunday…huh?!  Picking sweet corn in the mud makes for some slippery times.

The rain has been helpful for a lot of the newest arrivals …eggplants are plentiful and absolutely beautiful. Eggplant parmesan for dinner anyone? Lima beans have started and should remain in season for a few weeks. Sweet corn can now be ordered by the hundreds for freezing. Sure tastes great for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner…yum! Tomatoes are being picked daily and are a great summertime addition to your dinner table. Cantaloupes are in and sweeter than ever…watermelons can’t be far behind.

Local nectarines and peaches are juicy, sweet and plentiful. Candy sweet, yellow and Santa Rosa plums are in  and should not be missed! Local cherries and blueberries will soon be coming to an end…sad as it is.

Unfortunately we have to say goodbye to some homegrown favorites…cabbage, peas, strawberries and raspberries have ended their seasonal run. Watch for cabbage’s return in the fall.

The first signs of the next seasonal veggies have begun appearing…with the arrival of spaghetti and acorn squash. Stop in today and get your favorite fruits and veggies for your dinner table…and remember…EAT FRESH…BUY LOCAL…AND SHOP THE FARMERS DAUGHTER!
