Subject: SUMMER IN APRIL

Well, if the sunshine didn’t get you outside this weekend, the warm weather should have. Some might say it was too warm, but after the last few weeks of cold and damp, the sunshine and higher temps sure were a welcome sight around the Farmer’s Daughter.

Everyone seemed ready to plant something or grill something…and we were the spot to get whatever was on their list. Summer annuals have begun arriving…hanging baskets galore…perennials and vegetable plants too!

We are picking spinach, spring mix lettuce and asparagus…and all 3 seemed to be on the menu of more than a few customers. Fresh asparagus rolled in a little olive oil, then laid on the grill makes a wonderful side dish to compliment that steak or chicken…yum.

Watermelons, cantaloupes, strawberries or honeydew are a great cold treat…and healthy too…just don’t tell the kids!

Homegrown Lancaster tomatoes are here…and wow are they great sliced atop a hamburger or diced up in a salad…wow such a great summer treat…and it’s only April!
